5 Great Jamaica Excursions

Kicking back at an all-inclusive resort can be pure bliss. But for those days when you want to explore the rest of the beautiful island of Jamaica, here are a few side trips, ranging from a couple of hours to a full day. There are activities to suit everyone's taste: from tours around towns or lagoons, to exploring caves and hiking to waterfalls, and even some shopping (because you have to bring home at least one souvenir, don't you?).

Contact one of our travel agents for information on travel to Jamaica, so you can experience these great excursions.

  1. Jamaica's Spirit of Reggae: The Bob Marley Experience
Walk in the footsteps of the 'King of Reggae' with a tour of his childhood home, which is now a museum in the village of Nine Mile. Stand on Mt. Zion Rock, the very spot where Bob would meditate, and rest your head on the stone that was his "pillow" in the lyrics to his song, "Talkin' Blues."
  2. Luminous Lagoon Night Cruise
Moonlit cruises are romantic, but a moonlit cruise on glowing water takes romance to a whole new level. The lagoon, in the parish of Relawney, gets its blue-green luminescence from harmelsss micro-organisms that light up at night, and is one of only a few bodies of water in the world with this effect.
  3.  Green Grotto Caves and Shopping in Montego Bay
What could be better than sightseeing and shopping all in the same day? Your guide will take you to the town of Discovery Bay in the parish of Saint Ann, where you'll descend into the Green Grotto Caves to gaze at stalactites, stalagmites, and a 'bottomless' lagoon. Then, you'll wander in Whitter Village, an island shopping and dining complex where you can pick up some souvenirs.
  4. ATV Off-Road Adventure to Sandy Bay
Hop onto a four-wheel ATV and zip along the scenic terrain of Sandy Bay. As you take in the sights of a former sugarcane plantation, the community of Cascade and more, you'll reach heights of 670 metres above sea level. Don't worry if you have never been on an ATV before; you'll receive a safety lesson and go on a practice run before you set off.
  5. Dunn's River Falls and Horseback Riding Tour
Start your day off on horseback through the lush hills of Saint Ann, then take a gentle hike to Dunn's River Falls, a must-see and famous waterfall that's considered the island's national treasure.
