You only get so many opportunities to travel as a family, so make the best of them. Go big, go far, go back in time and go to fascinating and unfamiliar places that will make the whole family appreciate the world around them.
Build sand castles on the beaches of Jamaica, get into character as you visit the magical world of Disneyland, cruise through sparkling Caribbean seas, or marvel at volcanoes in Maui. Your family will love you for it.
Regardless of age, everyone (including children) needs to carry a valid Canadian passport to fly outside of Canada. Get more information on passport, travel document, and foreign currency services at an AMA centre near you.
Though it isn’t a legal requirement everywhere, the government strongly recommends Canadian children carry a consent letter when they’re travelling aboard alone, with only one parent/guardian, or with a group of relatives or friends.
Check out the Government of Canada’s website for instructions on what to put in the letter.
Yes. Simply let your AMA travel agent know what you can’t have, and we’ll inform the tour partner so that they can arrange everyone’s meals accordingly.
We strongly recommend you purchase insurance whenever you travel because your provincial healthcare only covers you within Alberta. However, proof of travel medical insurance is not required to visit most destinations. Learn more about AMA's Travel Medical Insurance.
Packing light is always the best philosophy, especially when you’re a family on the go. Most of our tour partners limit a guest’s luggage to one suitcase (76 cm x 46 cm x 25 cm) with weight not exceeding 23 kg. You can also bring one piece of hand luggage, like a backpack, shoulder bag, or purse.
We know that most travelling families like having the freedom to do their own thing, too. If you’re interested in visiting a particular attraction, or you just want an evening relaxing by the pool, your tour itinerary has blocks of time reserved to do with as you please.
